SVL Board of Directors Annual Planning Meeting - June 2005 Show me a closeup of that picture back there behind Tom's head! |
SVL refers to "Silicon Valley Leadership". SVL is an organization based in Sunnyvale legally set up as a California nonprofit public benefit corporation. SVL's mission is to develop and empower individuals from our diverse community, to become effective leaders through training in the fundamentals of leadership and community awareness skills.
SVL runs the Leadership Sunnyvale program. The board of directors, made of alumni and other informed citizens, manage the Leadership Sunnyvale program as well as maintain and develop services for Leadership Sunnyvale alumni and Silicon Valley community of business, local government as well as other organizations. Board meetings are held once a month at the Sunnyvale Community Center, 550 East Remington Drive, Sunnyvale at 6PM usually on the second Tuesday of the month, except for conflicts, please look to the Board Minutes list to the right for information on the next board meeting. When in the Community Center, ask at the front desk for the correct room the meeting will be held. The public is welcome.

SVL has worked with our neighboring leadership programs as well as with San Jose State University to enhance leadership training opportunities in Silicon Valley. Other projects in coordination with the City of Sunnyvale and local corporations fill out the rest of SVL's responsibilities.
The proposed Joint Venture for Leadership Training for Civic Engagement was accepted Tuesday, May 4th, 2004 by the Sunnyvale City Council in coordination with SVL. Implementation of the pilot project took one year. This was the culmination of an 18 month process by the City of Sunnyvale and SVL to develop a win-win joint-training program that intends to expand community understanding, leveraging both the resources of the City of Sunnyvale and SVL's local non-profit organization expertise and cost effectiveness. An unadvertized pilot session has been held that was highly successful, and this program is now being broadly marketed as CitySkills! An overview of this program is available on this website here.
Leadership Sunnyvale Alumni Association is a program of SVL.
SVL provides direct training and consulting services to corporations, other municipalities and organizations.
